Breaststroke – Full Stroke – Heads-Up Breast Pull

BRS08 Category: Heads-Up Breast Pull

Description:

Standard breaststroke but the head remains out of the water all of the time

Purpose:

Helps train a flat body with no undulation

Helps train to lift the head at the neck

(Note:  many in the past have trained that the head should be locked (like in a neck brace) with not ‘neck bobble’.  Newer training suggests this causes the hips too drop)

Helps to focus on the recovery of the arms while the swimmer can watch:

      • the arms recover fast
      • the arms lock the elbows on the glide
      • ensure the arms do not drive the hands downward but keeping them near the surface
